National Gymnastics Award Programme (NatGAP)

The National Gymnastics Awards Programme (NatGAP) is a great scheme that allows gymnasts to progress at their own pace all whilst earning medals along the way.

The NatGAP Standard scheme has 4 core levels where gymnasts will work on over 350 individual skills. Each level progresses gymnasts through all of the vital basics of gymnastics through to more advanced skills that require lots of hard work to achieve.

The Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby & Diamond core levels all include 8 separate sections that include the use of all apparatus - floor, beam, bars, vault and body prep, and follows a structure of progression through each level, and over 30 medals to be achieved.

We follow the curriculum as part of our regular classes, so your child will already be working on the skills they need to pass their medals within their weekly class.

When an individual section is completed, your awards book will be stamped with the offical NatGAP stamp and a medal is available to be ordered.

Participation in the NatGAP awards scheme is entirely optional. If you would like to take part, here’s what you need to do:

  • Purchase your NatGAP personal award book. This contains all of the skills on each award in one book, to allow you to monitor your progress and record which skills have been ticked off by your coaches. All 48 sections are included in this one book, so you only need to purchase this once. Coaches will stamp a level with the official NatGAP stamp in your book once it’s complete. Awards books cost £5.00. Once you’ve purchased your Awards book, we’ll hand it out to you in your class.

You can purchase your NatGAP personal awards book though your Casablanca LoveAdmin account, click on Events, then NatGAP Standard Programme Award Book and add it to your basket.

  • Testing sessions run at both the Loughton and North Weald Gyms a couple of times per month. You can book in as often as you like, although we recommend once every 6 weeks is about right. At a testing session, there is no limit on the number of skills that can be ticked off. Sometimes we can work through a number of different apparatus, passing a few skills off on each, or focus on just one apparatus. Simply bring your awards book in with you to the session, and the coaches will work to your current level going through the skills you need to practice and pass. Testing sessions cost £8.25 each.

You can book in for testing sessions via your Casablanca LoveAdmin account.

  • Once you have completed a whole level and had it stamped by a coach, you have the option of purchasing the corresponding medal at a cost of £3.00.

Medals are presented to gymnasts in their regular weekly classes once passed!

If you have any questions about the National Gymnastics Awards Programme, please get in touch or speak to your child's coach.

Open Gym

Open Gym is an opportunity for gymnasts, tumblers and cheerleaders to improve their skills.

It is not a structured or taught class. Athletes work independently, using the Casablanca Gym and equipment.

Though not taught, coaches are on hand to offer advice and support. This session is not suitable for beginners - a basic understanding of how the gym and equipment works is required.

Open Gym is not a social club, and by booking in for a session you are agreeing to attend to train and work hard on your skills, and not as a free play session.

Level-Up Clinics

Level up Clinics are 2 hour sessions in which athletes focus on specific tumbling skills for the whole time. Coaches will break down each skill bit by bit to enable athletes to really understand how to execute the skill with excellent execution. The use of drills, spotting, and a with variety of tumbling surfaces during clinics allow athletes to build confidence in each skill.

Level up clinics vary in skills each week, from cartwheels to twisting somersaults and elite speciality tumbling passes. Please be sure to check the pre-requisites for each Level Up Clinic.
